Engineering

Peter Goodhew FREng

My initial education was as a scientist but I have become increasingly fascinated by engineering as I have matured (a process as yet incomplete).
I still most frequently want to know why something works, then how. I am less successful at devising
artefacts (or accumulating knowledge) which are useful, efficient and value for society's money.
While I am often in awe of engineered products (from the iPhone to the Millau bridge) it seems to me that I have not
contributed much to the development of any of them!

I am an active Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
I currently sit on the Education and Skills Committee, and chair the Visiting Professors group.
